18 units were originally purchased from Czechoslovak National Rail; of those, 14 are still part of the rolling stock and operate on short distances, for intermodal or cars transport, primarily in double traction with multiple command. On the social rail network, they operate both on Milan and Iseo branches, leading freight trains (for example, on the Saronno-Seregno line) and for shunting work.

The three locomotives diesel-electric DE.145 have entered service between 1994 and 1995 on the Iseo branch of FERROVIENORD net. After the beginning of operational activities on the national railway network, these locomotives were originally used also for line services, to push heavy trains or, exceptionally, to lead some of the lighter trains. Recently, beside the Valcamonica line, they’re normally used for heavy shunting work in Domo2 and Novara Boschetto yards.

Built in 1993 by Czechoslovak Skoda, E630 entered service on the FERROVIENORD network in summer 1996, contributing to face constant growth of FNM network users. LeNORD currently has 9 units in force. On September 25th 2001, NORDCARGO commercial freight service on the Melzo-Domodossola line has been inaugurated just by an E630.

Specially conceived for international freight traffic, E189 locomotives can reach the speed of 140 km/h. Being polytension cars, they can operate on the whole electrified and standard gauge European railway network. NORDCARGO currently has 9 locomotives of this group, operating at the head of the trains on the main long distance heavy connections, both in Italy and abroad.
