The locomotives of E630 group were manufactured by Czechoslovak Skoda in 1993; they belong to a structural platfotm that also includes polytension cars, in force to the National Railways of Czech Republic, Slovakia and unified Germany (coming from East Germany Railways).
The first cars to arrive on the social rail network in September 1995 had to go under a series of binding changes and tests, both on social and national rail networks.
Skoda E630 entered service on the FERROVIENORD network in summer 1996, as they helped facing the constant growth of FNM network users. LeNORD currently has 9 units in force. At the beginning of the new millennium, commercial strategies brought FNM to operate in the freight transport field on national railway network: the locomotives to start the service were the quick 'Skoda’. On September 25th 2001, the E630-03 inaugurated NORDCARGO commercial freight service on the Melzo-Domodossola line. Since then, the locomotives of this group have crossed the entire national network in head to freight trains or for training runs, going from the Tarvisio Pass to Reggio Calabria, and at the same time kept operating as passengers trains.
