train e.189 E.189 locomotives were expressly conceived by Siemens for international freight traffic.
Manufactured in 100 units for German railways and in 45 units for Dispolok, a leasing company, those 4-wheel drive locomotives of great power can reach the speed of 140 km / h: being polytension, those cars can operate on the entire electrified and standard gauge European railway network, if adequately equipped with signalling tools. Currently, NORDCARGO counts 9 Dispolok locomotives of this group, operating at the head of the trains on the main long distance heavy connections, both in Italy and abroad. Therefore, NORDCARGO locomotives of this group can be seen everyday quite easily, leading heavy train sets that transport containers, clay, cars or steel, from the Emmerich German/Dutch border to Rome and Pescara, crossing the Rhine Valley, Switzerland, Milan junction and the Appennin.
