train DE.145 The three locomotives diesel-electric DE.145 have entered service between 1994 and 1995 on the Iseo branch of FERROVIENORD net.
Built by Fiat in Colleferro plant, they are equipped with two 12 cylinders, 4-stroke diesel engines, both set to 565 kWs (770 CVs) power that, through a static rectifier and a subsequent electronic converter, feed four three-phase traction engines. Initially, the three locomotives served the Valcamonica line for the execution of heavy freight trains, thanks to their ability of operating in multiple command, After the beginning of operational activities on the national railway network, these locomotives, similar to those already operating for Trenitalia, were originally used also for line services, to pushes heavy trains or, exceptionally, also to lead some of the lighter trains. At present, beside serving the Valcamonica line, they’re normally used for heavy shunting work in Domo2 and Novara Boschetto yards.
